Overview
The Optimal Online Reading Guidelines brochure was initially developed to assist Cornell's Admissions Imaging Project in deciding what hardware best meets the needs of employees who spend large portions of their day reading online. It describes some of the major factors to consider in selecting a computer monitor and in configuring a workstation that allows the employee to work efficiently while minimizing the likelihood of eyestrain and other physical stresses involved with extended periods of computer use. In addition to tips on desired technical features to look for in a computer monitor and recommendations as to the type and size monitor best suited to online reading, the brochure presents some possible advantages of using dual monitors and a few of the available methods of accommodating visually impaired online readers.
