The STARS Project is pleased to announce that all of the core processes for managing student records, new and continuing student financial aid, and student accounts will be implemented (will “go live”) in the Student Administration area of the Oracle PeopleSoft 8.9 system at Cornell starting Monday, March 24, 2008. This implementation includes a new Just the Facts, called the Student Center and offers students a way to access their information 24/7 from their computer. The Student Center contains a suite of services that allow a student to update their addresses, verify their registration status and current class schedule, view grades, order official transcripts, add and/or drop classes, review their bursar account and financial aid records and pre-enroll in classes.
A new Faculty Center provides a single entry point to the tools faculty need to advise students and to view class information (teaching schedule, class rosters, and grading information). The new Student Services Center will provide designated academic administrative staff the ability to access student information to support faculty and students. A new release of the Student Data Mart with student records data will be implemented on March 28th.

Student Records and Student Financials, part of the STARS Project, will be implemented (will go live) in the Oracle PeopleSoft 8.9 system during the third week of March. The conversion of student information from SIS and bringing over Bursar balances will take place over the course of several days. This email will provide some of the specifics about system downtime and how various applications will be impacted during the go-live process. There are several parts to the overall PeopleSoft system. Impacts to each will be discussed below.

Custom Applications
==============
The following applications will be unavailable starting at 5pm on Friday, March 14th.
Grad Resident Units and Special Committee Selection and Change (SCSC) will be replaced with PS functionality.
The Student Data Mart implementations are as follows:
The legacy SIS and Bursar systems will no longer contain the University data of record for Students after the conversion weekend. The Financial Aid system will be used to complete the 2007 Aid Year. PeopleSoft will be the data of record Financial Aid for 2008 onward. Limited read-only access will be available. More information will be sent out to users of these systems by OUR, Busar and Financial Aid Offices.
Further information about use of the PS Student system for your business area will be distributed via the established communication mechanisms in effect in your area.
The PS outage may extend to 7:00am on Tuesday March 18th if unexpected problems occur over the conversion weekend. Other contingency plans are being prepared to address catastrophic scenarios.
Please check this site again before March 14th for any changes that may occur.
