FAQ: Transfer and Test Credit

Will all AP credit show on the Official Transcript or just the accepted tests?
AP Credits will appear on the Official Transcript as a lump sum of total credits for those AP Credits that are accepted. Any AP Credit that has not been accepted will not appear on the Official Transcript in the lump sum total.

Will there be a selection for IB, CASE and Cornell Department Exams under the Test ID?
IB credit will have transfer rules set up. CASE and Department Exams will be done manually because there are not any rules behind them.

Just to confirm, if the student enrolls in an equivalency class, PS doesn't automatically reject the AP credit, someone has to go in and make this manual change on the student’s record, correct?
That is correct.

Cornell Abroad question: Will this be used in transfer credit as an equivalency course in some way?
Cornell Abroad is not considered transfer credit. The student enrolls in a course called "Cornell Abroad", which they will receive credit for and the individual courses will be listed on transcript notes which is the way we do it today.

With one course or a lump sum of courses, wouldn't the Units Taken affect the total units attempted either way? Should Unit Taken always be 0.00?
This all depends on each college’s policy for posting transfer credit. Arts & Sciences, for example, would give a lump sum (say 20 credits) and then list the courses individually with units taken set at 0. If they didn't do this the units attempted would add up to twice as much.

Is the Academic Plan field on either Transfer or Test Credit pages tied to any rules?
This simply reflects the student's plan and if the credit applies specifically to that plan.

How will changes such as ILR will need a student to achieve a 5 for ENGL on their AP component in order to count towards FWS in Fall of 08 take place and/or affect those already given credit under prior rule?
That is a degree audit issue. This implementation is does not include degree audit.

Will it be possible to generate a report on those external orgs that we have accepted transfer credit courses from?
Yes.

If a student changes colleges over their time at Cornell and the new college treats transfer credit differently, would the new college go and make changes to reflect their own rules?
Yes.
